Our story

Nasi kandar utara, the Malay way.

Lunchbear started with a small dream: bring the nasi kandar utara the founder learned from their mother to the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The founders are a husband-and-wife duo from Pulau Langkawi and Alor Setar, Kedah, who grew up on village stalls serving nasi kandar rooted in Malay-Nusantara taste.

Our nasi kandar leans toward authentic Malay flavour rather than the usual mamak style. The name comes from the bear, an animal known for its hearty appetite and how content it is after a good meal.

Nasi kandar is eaten every day across Malaysia, yet few brands have systemised it. Our central kitchen keeps the Utara taste the same at every outlet, and we hand you the playbook.
